Great news from Fred!
Day +89 Soon and Very Soon!
Posted 17 hours ago
Sooner than we even dared to think or hope ... it looks like Fred is coming home! We just hit the 3 month mark since he moved up to be admitted on October 10th!
Today he had his bone marrow biopsy to see what the new bone marrow is looking like. We should have the results by his Wednesday appointment. His counts are beginning to recover from the CMV virus med treatment with the help of a transfusion last Friday and shots to boost his white blood count.
The doctors have scheduled to remove the central veinous catheter on Wednesday and at that point they are saying he will be free to come home. Now the only hold-up is on my end. I've been working to try to get some mold taken care of at the house and I thought work would begin today, but it looks like it might not begin until Wednesday. Please pray that this work gets done without a glitch. I really want our home to be a safe, clean place for Fred to come home to.
Fred is very excited at the prospect of coming home. I'm a bit nervous because of all the germ and cleanliness issues that come with a full house of kids and animals. Anyways, the actual date is yet to be determined, but it could very well be by this weekend!
Fred's coming home presents all kinds of other logistical issues: Packing and cleaning the apartment, moving all the items back to Santa Cruz to a staging area so everyone can collect their precious blessings to our apartment, getting Fred to his weekly appointments over the hill and I'm sure there are other things I haven't thought of yet. I just found out today that coming home this week was a possibility. I was still thinking we were at least two weeks out.
I am very excited. I've been counting our blessings recently and they are just too numerous. Each and every one of you are a special blessing to us and we thank God for how you've continued to journey this mountain ascent and descent with us. I will post when I have a specific date and continue to post as Fred continues to recover at home.
