The Nature Man...has arrived

Hi, guys. Saw your ad on Craigslist and decided to join up.

I grew up and live here in Tracy. I have all sorts of critters including a number of tarantulas, so I thought this group would be something to check out.

When i'm not feeding something or cleaning cages, I'm out camping, hiking, fishing, boating or beach combing.

I'm into tarantulas, bugs, reptiles and fossils.

I work in the Bay area, so I'll have to check out one of your meetings sometime. Looking forward to meeting other bug people.

Abbe

Welcome and please do come to our nextmeeting in January. We're always looking for more people with something to offer and I want to hear about your fossils. Hope to meet you soon!  icon_cheesygrin.gif

Hello Abbe, Welcome to SFBATS. Sounds like you fit right in.
EdgarOrtega

Cool! Welcome to the group. I grew up in Tracy and have family there. I still go looking for critters in the area, from time to time, and I have friends there.
llamamama

Welcome -- what other critters do you have?

I have a number of tarantulas. My wife, she doesn't like them, but I tell her "What are you going to do? Leave me cause of the spiders? I'm calling your bluff woman...I'm gonna keep the spiders, now let's see what you are going to do."

Anyway, I also share my quarters with many many other living creatures that keep me company whilst I live my life. For example, I have a number of snakes; cribos, file snakes, indigos, and a number of other serpents that will make all of you mad with jealousy.

We have cats. I like having cats around. They purrr on my lap and beg for my affection. My wife used to do that, but now pays more attention to her massive collection of stuffed animals. Anyway, I like cats. I keep enough around to have something going on all the time. They get into trouble. They will also provide enough nourishment for me should the economy crash completely rid store shelves of soy milk. Cat milk is a much underrated source of essential proteins one needs. I like cats.

Some other animals I keep include a number of houseplants, and I have a humming bird feeder. Squirrels frequent our yard and they like to bark at me in the morning. I also have a lot of furniture and a closet full of board games. I like moths too. They don't beg for attention like butterflies, those obnoxious show-offs, no moths have a subtle beauty. They remind me of a warm socks.

I used to raise quail, but my dog, a tenacious Boston terrier, used to break into the cages and eat them. It was always messy, so I thought it best to stop with the quail raising. I also saw an owl once in our yard. He kept staring at me like he wanted something.

We have a pair of sulcata tortoises that wreck my back yard when its warm, but I enjoy them. They're like big rocks with legs and attitudes. Right now they're in a big heated storage shed. They like it in there. I was at Home Depot last weekend and I says to my wife, "Lilly, I need a heater for my den. it gets cold in there, and hate wearing socks all the time. My feet need to breath. Freedom for feet, Lilly. I'm going to look for a heater while we're here." Then she started complaining about the electric bill and going on and on about who knows what. I say, "I'm getting a heater, and I'm gonna sit in my den with my socks off and look at my tarantulas and pretend you don't exist." She stopped talking and let me get the heater.

Yeah, so I've got lots of animals. I think my houseplants are my favorite though. I'll have to find some photos to show all of you if this is the place to do it. I'll have to invite some of you over to check out the place, sometime if you're gonna be in the area and my wife is out.

ROTFLMAO
llamamama

ROFL!  Oh, dear!    Another one!  We might have to keep him locked up with John and Edgar!  He fits right in with this crowd!

Mad with jealousy over your snakes?  LOL  Anyone want to hazard a guess as to how many snakes I'm around on a daily basis?   Or tortoises?

OMG, not sure there is more room at NSH for another nutty SFBATS member, who invited this guy???

Oh boy!!! I am worried for us all....
llamamama

I blame Edgar.
BayLee

If we end up with a bunch of NSH's here, no one will be safe any more. Not sure why they let them out.
EdgarOrtega

"Sir..step away....from the crack....put the crack pipe down...and step away...
BayLee

Well said Edgar, one good post from you today...
TheNatureMan

You guys might think I'm to HARD on my wife... try living with THIS every day of your life. This is a video she made when she tried to leave me and ran off to Chicago.

She likes cats

This is frightening
llamamama

Okaaaaaay.  Lony's right.  That was scary.  No, that was off the deep end.  That one needs to go to NSH, too.
BayLee

I am worried for all of us!
llamamama

I'm not worried.   Perturbed, perhaps.   His video is what's worrisome.  Where would one find a video like that?

Abbe ... when I saw that, I thought "that's an interesting name".
TheNatureMan

It's more of a title, really. My father was a wildman before becoming a priest in France. It was a long time ago...

There were secrets involved, but luckily he survived long enough to name me. It's a little ironic, actually.

Don't you think?
llamamama

Ironic, yes.  I do think.  A long time ago?  Yes, a very long time ago.
lol

You sure it was France?
llamamama

I think it was southern France.  Probably near Marseilles, it's nice there.
