the empress' new clothesDid I ever get a surprise this morning: my 4" greenbottle blue molted, only six weeks after its last molt. This is the spider I was concerned might have been sick or dying. Nope, it was just "tight"! And now it is huge. In the photo, you can see that the abdomen exuvia was still slightly attached and peeling away.Here's some video of its first stretches: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yv2M4h9whrs And very strangely, it then curled up around its molt, which was off to the side. It's almost as if it wants to eat it! ?!?? I extricated the molt, which definitely irritated the GBB and it furiously kicked hairs at me. I hope I didn't "force" movement too early, but I wanted to get the molt out while it was fresh (and, indeed, it came out perfectly intact). PC
