SFBATS Mt. Diablo hike!!! (?)Well a lot of people have been asking to check out the Aphonopelma on Mt. Diablo and so here's the breakdown...
I know a few of you were asking if I would guide people up there and so I would certainly be willing to take a group of up to half a dozen or so people. Because I will only be in the Concord area for the meeting, I think it was fine with most people to do the hike early in the morning just before the meeting.
Before I start posting times, locations, ideas, and whatnot; it would be great to get an idea of how many people are interested in doing this. We may end up setting up multiple hikes with different groups and guides, different locations, and possibly at different times. Please post what works for you or if you have any questions/suggestions!!!

Karl and I are down. If we start the hike say, 2 hours before the meeting would be good. Then we can last the whole meeting without a nap :-)

i'm down and i might bring a guest if the guy can get the day away from his family
2 or even 3 hours before the meeting is fine with me, i'll still get to sleep in even with the 2 hour drive

I like to go but I highly doubt my tush is getting up early on Saturday before the meeting.
I also don't want to leave my T's in the car in the heat.

Hmmm ok...
Lony you brought up a good point that people who are bringing stuff probably could not go on this trip. I am bringing stuff but fortunately I should have a "babysitter" for them.
What about after the meeting, guys? That way I could sleep in (I would be getting up at 4am to leave at 5am to get there in time; I live near Redding!) This way we would not have to be in a rush to get to the meeting in case we have TOO much fun.
This still doesn't settle the tarantula babysitting problem but we may have to do a separate hike for those who could not make this trip...don't forget the meeting is the main priority of that day. The hike is just a morning (or evening) bonus to make the day that much more exciting!

Would be great, but by the time the meeting is over my T's would cook in the car.
I live to far away to be bringing them home and coming back.
Perhaps next time.

Im sure a couple people may make it if its the same day as the the meeting, but we're likely to get a bigger turnout of members on a different day when we dont have something going on, I think.

That would certainly be fine but I could only make it the day of the meeting since I will only be down there that day. I know some people wanted to go with me since I have some experience up there.
Looks like 4 people above planned on it the morning of...including me that's 5 people and is certainly a nice amount to take a group to hike. We could all fit in my car, too (therefore only pay for one vehicle).
Basically, anybody who would like to go that doesn't mind mornings is welcome to join me. For the people who cannot make it, I will see if I can make it down there another time or I am sure other people here have some experience there that would be willing to take you.
Also, I believe Edgar is or will be planning a trip there. Contact him for further details!
