SFBATS BannerI'm getting ready to work on the banner. We have quotes for both full color and two color designs.
So, what should we have on it? Should it say something else besides SFBATS: San Francisco Bay Area Tarantula Society?
I'm bad at coming up with slogans and things. Any ideas? Or should we just keep it simple?

I'd suggest keeping it simple. All it has to do is say who we are and how to find us. It's easier to read that way.
The NBHS banner just has the logo on one side and "North Bay Herpetological Society" and "nbherps.org" on the rest, with a wavy line behind it.

Can we have one for *our* meetings, to be hung up outside the hall, and one for events, that has our name and contact info? I'll spring for one of them.

How about the banner having just SFBATS, a logo, and maybe a sentence and website to keep it simple, and we can use the banner everywhere; not at just our meetings.
Maybe, "Northern California's premier group of invertebrate hobbyists."

I like the idea of two. One like Rachel made :thumright: and one like North Bay Herp's.

Yes, one for our meetings and another one for other events would be really cool if it's not too expensive

I like the banner alot, but think we need to keep it simple, so we can use one for the meeting and one for other events, shows etc. That way we save money. If we need to have another one made we can down the line, but having two made will cost more.
Just my 2 cents.

I like # one a lot. Can we stay with the same color as our logo. I do think Red is the best color, it stands out and people will notice right away vs. black. Staying with the same red makes it more uniform vs. changing the tone of red. Not sure if you use any Pantone colors, but if you do it will help in the future when going to print. etc. Just a suggestion.
I do also agree with Laurie the website needs to be added.

I think #1 and #3 are nice and bright too. For the PMS color I was using a burgundy (PMS 188) but I think maybe we should bump it up to a brighter color like PMS 187. It's not too bright but it will probably stand out more.

There wont be a white outline around the edge, I just messed up a bit cropping them.

My reason for lobbying for the black background is that the logo would stand out better, and the bridge would also stand out better. Just a thought. If not, I think the darker red would be good. Of course, since I'm sick, I have no idea what I'm saying and you can feel free to take it all with a grain of salt. lol

Its' not really pink, I think it just looks that way on monitors. Maybe the burgundy color would be better. I can try black also and see how it looks.
I'm sick too. I'm probably not going to be able to do any new ones till monday :-P

here's a rough idea of a concept i had.
maybe we could even play around with the wording being caught in the web or something like that also.
but honestly i think this the simple effective and really nice looking way to go.
upon posting i realized i could have easily replaced "Bay Area's" with "world's" but i wont' right now b/c i'm too lazy, but as long as we all know it we're good to go.
(w/o red lines why worry about spelling  )

Nice! I like all of them, especially Brian's red one (minus the typos) and Rachel's spider web red one.
Rachel, take it easy and get well. There's lots of icky crud going around, I can hardly stay awake today, I'm so wiped out.

I like Brian's red one too. The banner is 4' x 2' though so it kinda has to be in the same shape as mine :-(

I really like the second one much better. I love the red as well, but the white logo needs to be centered.

I really like the second one much better. I love the red as well. |
Bottom banner needs a spell check or two or three.

The white one is my favorite. I usuallly like anything black, but I don't think it will stand out like the red or white would.

i noticed it, then i stopped caring. haha *shrug* "Premiere" at least i can sort of be redeemed..
also i tried to make it bigger
kinda loses the flair it had when smaller.

Ok, going back to the red and white ones (and the red with a gradient) here are two more versions. Maybe our President could have the final say on the design or should we do another poll? If you have any other ideas for these, let me know.

I was just notified that Premiere should actually be Premier. Both mean "first" but one refers to theatrical performances/movies and the other refers to "first in importance or order" as my mac dictionary tells me.
I'll make sure to change that. Hehe.
