I will be there both days and will bring a few of my handleable T's, giant T's,  giant millipedes, cockroaches, whip scorpions and others. Please reply to this thread if you want to come and help out or just hang out. Bring your favorite critters!

Yeppers...will be there.  (gotta shop, ya know! lol)
northswan04

I should be there, I'd like to help out but I have to wait until I get my school schedule!
Synn

I'll be there but not long enough to help out, sorry guys!
I'll be sure to stop by though and say hello!
UglyKid2

OK, so here is what we have so far:

SFBATS Volunteers

o John (Sat and Sun)
o Rachel (Sun)
o Edgar (Sat and Sun CRIS and SF BATS)
o Lony (Sat)
o Marlene (maybe)
o Laurie (Sat and Sun CRIS and SF BATS)

This may seem like enough but we all need breaks and support. Please sign up even if only for an hour and we would love to have your company. Thanks!
llamamama

Yes, the more the merrier.  If you think you're going to be there, and can help out even for a little while, that would be a huge help.
squirrel

I'm new and all but I am sure I can help out for a few hours :) either day!

Looking forward to meeting you all in person, helping and going to my first rep/T show !
UglyKid2

I'm so glad you're coming. You can hold the big parahybana that I'm too scared to handle!
squirrel

LOL Great! I still havn't held a T yet *Cry*
llamamama

Don't listen to John, you can hold my Curlyhair, she's a sweetheart.
BayLee

How about your big klugi John?
Joeseph

I may be able to help I should hopefully be mobile by then, I  refuse to wake up early enough to take the R/t all the way to the convention center it just wont happen but if I am able to get myself there and back I can stay aslong as needed.
UglyKid2

Only about another month to go! Anybody else want to come hang out with us?

Considering I know next to nothing about T's I don't think I'd be much help anyway, but I can only be there for an hour or two anyway, and there's a few snakes I'm hoping to find so I won't be able to help out at this one. Sorry guys! But I'll be sure to stop by and say hello and show you what new snakes I bought (if any!)
<3
johnsolanzo1209

i can't make it :(
it's too far
squirrel

I will there on Sunday for a few hours, my wife is having a pool Party on Saturday for friends and family, So Sunday it is! unfortunitly I will have 2-3 hours max since I have to help clean up from the day before LOL!! What time should I be there? its going to be nice meeting you all :)
squirrel

So work asked if I could help at our booth at the Lodi grape  festival for my employer (Clark Pest Control) since were doing the auditions for the new TV commercial and are short handed, any idea about what time would be best to come help at the booth? just trying to juggle 2 events on the same day :)
UglyKid2

Just come whenever you can, we will be glad to have you at any time
squirrel

Thanks John! I still cannot believe admission is so cheap! Never been to a reptile show but have been to quite a few conventions/shows that are in the 20.00 admission range :)
UglyKid2

Only two more weeks to go till the show and we are still asking for  volunteers. Edgar had to bow out and we have a lot of "maybes" so lets pitch in for the team and sign up to help out and be part of the show! It'll be lots of fun!
Heres what we have so far:
SFBATS Volunteers
o Rachel "arachnocat"(Sun)
o Laurie "llamamama" (Sat and Sun CRIS and SF BATS)
o John "UglyKid2" (Sat and Sun)
o Lony "BayLee" (Sat)
o Fred "squirrel" (Sat or Sun)
o Marlene  "northswan04" (Sat 3pm-5pm)
o Miguel "mitchrobot" (maybe)
o Joeseph (maybe)
Sparky

Sorry I haven't been around! I'm definitely available to volunteer both days, any time, as we live in the area. :)
squirrel

I'm coming for sure on Sunday for a few hours, when I come out I'm bringing 3 backgrounds I made (well 2 are complete and will be finishing the last one tomorrow night) , any chance can I put on a table or under one so they don't get kicked around :) I think John wanted one (please inspect before buying ) so I will have 2 left, to SFBATS they are $14.00 and general public $20.00.
UglyKid2

Yes I do still want one. Just so you know, since we are an educational booth and didnt have to pay for our table we cant sell anything. You can bring stuff to sell at our meetings though!
CodeWilster

Well I found out I am for sure going. Not sure what day yet. It will be on "business" with my boss and co-workers so I won't be able to volunteer but I will certainly say hi if I see you guys. This will be my first time at the Sac show!
squirrel

Oh ok very cool! that actually makes things much easier!!! I'll bring out a few so you can pick which one you like :) this now means I do not have to make as many for the meeting WHEEEEEW, they are time consuming so the less I make the better!
EdgarOrtega

Will we be taking donations at our table, again?

If we can sell raffle tickets in exchange for donations, Dee and I will donate some items on behalf of CRIS for a raffle to help get more funds to SFBATS.

Also, if that wont work, we will donate the spiders to help gather funds for the group at the Fall Fang Fest raffle
Arachnocat

That's a good idea! That would be a great way to get donations.
UglyKid2

I think we can have a donation jar on the table but I'm not sure if we'll be allowed to sell raffle tix. And if Laurie brings the banner and stuff she wont be there when it opens and she's not sure yet what time she'll get there.
EdgarOrtega

The tix are free with donations. so they aren't being sold.
squirrel

thats a really great idea!!
EdgarOrtega

The slings up for raffle will be some mystery brachy's and we'll see what else.

If anyone wants to donate items for the raffle. Let us know! Every bit helps benefit SFBATS!

Let us know what you'd like to donate; Animals, cages, supplies, substrate bricks, tools, feeders, etc; it will help promote the raffle and sell tickets if we know ahead whats being offered, so let us know.
llamamama

I can donate a sling for the raffle...I think I have a few spares!

John, I'll get the stuff from Rachel sometime tomorrow and bring it to you on Wednesday.  I'm afraid I might not be there until after 11 on Saturday, because of family obligations.
squirrel

I can donate an enclosure background :), I wont be there until Sunday tho :( unless anyone lives between Lodi and Tracy, then I could meet up with someone this week.
northswan04

I will be bringing a friend and Karl to help work the booth Sat afternoon so SFBATS can take turns checking out the other tables if they like!
BayLee

Great ideas guys.
What time do we have to be there to set up?
EdgarOrtega

Well, they'd like us to be set up Friday night, but otherwise before the show opens on Sat.
BayLee

I can't Friday night. Will work till 9 or so. Too much going on at work.
Sparky

You guys didn't need me, right? Just want to make sure before I make plans. :) It sounds like y'all have it covered.
northswan04

Alas Alas.  What time on Friday?
UglyKid2

As we did at the Cow Palace show I just plan on being there Saturday morning when they open for vendors only from 7 am to 9 am. This is plenty of time to set up our stuff. Dont forget your $1 off coupon here:   http://www.upscalereptiles.com/htm/coupon.php

UglyKid2

We still only have 2 people full time at the tables both days. We still need more folks to help us out!

Heres the latest line up we have so far:
SFBATS Volunteers
o John "UglyKid2"        All Day (Sat and Sun)
o Lony "BayLee"          All Day  (Sat)
o Rachel "arachnocat" All Day (Sun)

o Laurie "llamamama"  1 or 2 hours? (Sat and Sun CRIS and SFBATS)
o Fred "squirrel"                   2 hours( Sun)
o Marlene  "northswan04"   2 hours (Sat 3pm-5pm)
Synn

Oh my god John I almost sprayed my juice all over my screen when I saw your icon!!!!
xDDDDDD
northswan04

The resembalance to our current governor is striking!

John, my friend Nikki and bf Karl will also be there with me Saturday.
squirrel

Nice John!!!!! I'm really looking forward to meeting you guys on Sunday !!! It's like double bonus I get to drive my wifes car (my truck is acting up) and get To meet you all 2 thumbs up!!! Bummer thing is picking up a t from Ken for a co-worker and it's not mine :( torture a sling that I have to care for until Tuesday .

John I'm bringing a 2 of those background out so u can pick from 2 :)   The only thing I ask is serious feedback I'm building a site to sell them and want to make sure they are good :) remember to sf bats they are 14 to general pub they are 22 :) can't wait till Sunday !!!!
UglyKid2

Only 12 more hours to go and I'm all packed and ready to boogie. Getting up at 4:30am , out of the house at 5:30am, find the back entrance of the Convention Center, grab a mocha and I'm in at 7 am to set up our booth!
Wake me up when you get there...
BayLee

Take a wild guess where I am at???
Synn

I bet you're already camping outside, BayLee! xD

I have directions to the convention center, but where's parking? The website says theres free parking less than 2 blocks north, is that correct? Will there be signs directing to parking?
BayLee

NO, I am still at work, bet Ugly kid is already in bed, since he wants to get there so darn early.

NO telling when I will arrive.

I will be one grouchy person. If you see me laughing hysterically tomorrow stay way.

Ok, I am going home now. I think 16 hours is just about enough work.... I feel sick...
Arachnocat

Sorry I won't get to see you tomorrow Lony. Hope you have lots of fun!!
BayLee

Yes, I know Rachel, but I will see you next weekend.
Synn

Hey guys! Had a blast at the show, said hi to Ricky, John, and Laurie! :) Picked up a pair of tangerine leopard geckos:

No I didn't take it home, but plans are in the works
Arachnocat

Hey everyone,
If someone could please give Austin a ride tomorrow (he's in Petaluma), please send me a PM and I will give you his phone number. His ride flaked on him. :-P
I have to do some stuff in Sac tomorrow so I won't be able to give him a ride either...

Thanks!
BayLee

Hey Rachel we need more of our Fan Fest flyers at the meeting.
We went t through almost all of them.

Can you bring some?
Arachnocat

Sorry, that's all the flyers we had.
BayLee

Oh shut.....
Can you print some out on regular paper? Maybe as a 8.5"x11".
Would be good to have anohter 20 to give out.
BayLee

The show was packed on Saturday and we were busy.

Fantastic pics, BayLee! :D Thanks for sharing! Dang, didn't see those blue garters!
BayLee

The CRIS table had them. I can't remember the guys name who was selling the babies.
By the time I got there there were gone.
BayLee

Marlene's pictures are much better actually.
Arachnocat

Nice pics! Sorry I can't make more flyers, I don't have a printer here at home.
Joeseph

Ya I had alot of fun keeping my dad away from the chondros he saw the $200 price  tag and started to turn stupid luckily we didn't buy anything.
snakecharmr728

Lony and John it was great seeing you yesterday!

Nice photos, too.

Boy I hate getting up early, lol. And I didn't even find anything I wanted to buy. But it was a cool show anyways because I worked the SFBATS table (we don't have bats!!). When I was waiting outside for my brother to pick me up today a girl saw my SFBATS shirt and told me she was going to the meeting next week so I gave her my two-day wristband. ;)

I have ASL class tomorrow and my teacher always asks what I did over the weekend so I've been teaching myself how to sign that I worked at a reptile show and we showed bugs to people and kids, and helped them hold tarantulas and cockroaches ("tarantula" and "cockroach" might not be standard ASL signs but I got them out of a Signing Exact English book and plan to use them). Now I need to learn to say I saw a turtle with two heads. ;) Any other suggestions on what I should learn to say? "John's toy spider scared the crap out a bunch of little kids?"
CodeWilster

It was great seeing you John and Lony! My boss really liked that L. para. Thanks for teasing it lol

It's too bad I only had an hour or so to look around (and it was more like follow around). I will try to help out next time, I'll bring some of my stuff to show too. I didn't want to run around freely after my boss brought me down and paid for everything in the first place, that's the only reason I did not do much see much or help.

Oh and it was good to see you Ricky and Ken too! Thanks for the trapdoor, so far I know it is an Ummidia species and the only one I have

Oh and good to see you also, Edgar. :) I wish I had more time to hang around the CRIS booth too!
EdgarOrtega

Wow what a great show.

I am one tired bat, though. I need a giant rolling pin and a giant person to roll me with it.

Here are a few pics at our table at the show.

Rachel and John at the SFBATS booth

Rachel and John at the SFBATS booth... in a world absent of color.

Rachel and John showing some critters to some blurry people... the people were very fast...

Rachel with her new blur phase hognose.

Money in the Donation Jar. We got $100,500.00 in donations. Cool, huh?

And a shot of a super docile parahybana on John's head.

All in all it was a great show!

Thank you to Lony, John, Marlene, Laurie, Sparky, and everyone else who helped out at our table, this weekend!

It was super fun.
BayLee

I want to thank Sparky, Marlene and her friend (sorry I forgot her name) for  helping out.
As well as Edgar, for letting us eat Saturday, I was one hungry bat.
Saturday was very busy and I bet it was the same today.
I believe we had a very successful turnout at the table.
Great work everyone!
John, thank you for putting up my grumpy face early Saturday morning.

I love SFBATS, we have a great team.

I can’t wait till Saturday.

John, looks kind of bony
Arachnocat

Haha! Nice pics Edgar. We did get $15 in donations. Wooh!
Maybe you can charge for autographs next time, make us some $$$.

I swear I saw Peter Stormare there. I could have had an obscure celeb photo op but I wasn't quite sure it was him. Anyone else see a dude that looked like one of the nihilists in The Big Lebowski?

Anywho.. had lots of fun today, but I am super tired. It was great seeing everyone. Hope we will see some new faces at the Fall Fang Fest next Saturday
Synn

Wow. So apprently the whole time I had been looking for some sub adult/adult western hogs and I totally missed a table that had some. xD Did anyone happen to see them and remember what the breeder/company was that had them? God I could just kill myself... I kept getting so turned around at the show, I was lost the whole time, hahaha.
Arachnocat

DK reptiles had babies for $50. My guy was pretty cheap because he's middle aged and missing a hemipene but he's healthy and very sweet. I couldn't pass him up :-)
EdgarOrtega

A couple more pics from the CRIS booth.

I'll have a vid or three up soon with more action.

SFBATS/CRIS members Chad and Ricky holding some way super dope mad crazy killa herps!   Including Mr. Thundercleese.

Laurie with her new boa.
llamamama

Yikes!  Marlene, thank heavens there's only one of Al...more would be scary.

Nice pics, Lony.

Hmmm I'm pretty sure chad and I covered everybody and I did not see any adult hogs..... trust me they would be with either myself or chad he did get a really cool albino male hog named blinky due to its missing eye lol but you cant beat a 100 dollar albino hognose!!!

Thanks Edgar for taking those horrific pictures of me. YIKES@ I look like a retard.
Edgar looks pretty bad too. Is his left eye coming out of his socket?
EdgarOrtega

Um... since Im in the photos, I thought it would be clear that I did not take them...

Yeah, we look pretty retarded. lol
BayLee

Did I say I was a retard? Well, there you have it....

I guess those pictures serve me right....

It was John taking those pictures? Right?
