rushed molts?ive had TWO adult-ish spiders "rush" molts this summer. my blondi (7" girl) molted again only 3 months after her last, i just had a smithi male (4") molt for the second time this year (this thing was in premolt for like a year prior to the first molt)...ive never had any brachy over 3" molt that fast, never. the smithi also molted maybe 3 months ago.
this has got me stumped, both spiders did not look damaged in any way inbetween those two recent molts. the blondi was mated a few times though, and the smithi hadnt eaten since it molted. i assume that *might* have something to do with it?
anyone else experiece this before? its new to me and has me stumped

EXACT same thing with my E. murinus, Miguel! It's a monster 6" female and just molted, only about 6 months before the last molt too which is unusual for an adult T like that that should theoretically only be molting once a year or so.
I heard that this year in CA is supposed to get a lot more rain than usual. I wonder with fall on it's way if barometric pressure has to do with this phenomenon. I'd imagine if that is the case, this should be a great year for breeding stuff too. I know it can heavily influence molting and other behavior (such as increased activity). Anyway, thanks for posting! Very unusual and interesting!

As I posted here a few weeks ago, my 4+" greenbottle blue female molted twice in six weeks, which seemed pretty bizarre...
And let's not kid ourselves: the big quake IS coming. The Hayward fault is just waitin' to go.
