Hello everyone, on Wednesday, I am going to receive an A. avicularia and L. parahybana from a guy from arachnoboards. Those are going to be my first two T's. I am really excited. The A. avic is about 3 inches and the LP is 2". I have a question about the Kritter Keeper I am going to put the A. avic in. It is a medium one. Does it matter if I turn the Kritter Keeper on it's side or not? The problem with having it on it's side is the difficulty of opening it and ending up with a pile of soil spilling out of the KK. Is it necessary?
Thanks!

I'd put it on its side to create more height, but I just use the handy snapping opening to do any feedings and such.
No, it is not necessary. I imagine the spider would do just fine. They do like to climb, but you wont hurt it by not having it stand. Experiment with different set-ups, see what you like.
If you are looking for some cool arboreal cages. World Market sells these nifty jars in sets of 3. You'll need to do your own vent holes, but they are cool. You get 3 sizes for $10 Check them out sometime.
Anyway, the critter keeper should work fine either way, I just like standing them up for height. Make sure in the KK that it doesnt totally dry out. Just keep an eye on them.

I looked it up online, and it's not on there. Does that mean they wont have them at their store too??? Maybe I just suck at finding them. lol
I'll probably pay a visit sometime over the weekend, since it's really close from my place.
Thanks.

I think the turning of top opening enclosures on their sides to create height could perhaps use re evaluation . Especially in rooms with chilly ambient temperatures where heat pads are used (i put mine on the wall - behind - not on the actual tank , and distance my enclosure Just So ) Upending the container is at odds with dynamics of heat, air movement and evaporation . Our perception of height being vertical and narrow really might not be key , if we are talking a few inches of difference . I use peices of plexi placed on top of screen to manage humidity and with a mist bottle and hygrometer one can get it right on point - after a period of constant checking and paranoia
