My ThoughtsI think that it would be a great idea for us to join forces on this and have a yearly meeting between No. & So. Invert groups. I'm thinking that our Spring Sling Fling date would be good.Maybe one in June if we want a separate date from our normal 4 meetings. Maybe central valley area , like Stockton?

Yes I think Robert has a big place he said we could use. I'm not sure if he would charge us though. I like the idea of having it in Monterey though. It would be a little less farther for our SoCal friends to drive. Do you have a big building Skipper?

Lets do stockton!!!! there are a couple halls we could rent out I could even look into the stockton civic center and shoot for a huge turn out! If Robert is holding it at what use to be the Great Valley Serpentarium there is little to no room inside that place. But, I can start contacting halls and get prices.

Can you check availability, prices and square footage of those halls? i imagine the Civic center would cost thousands to rent....

This would be something great to plan for a year from now.
Though Stockton is not very central location for both parties Not even close. lol
Let's brainstorm what kind of event we'd like to plan before we decide where. That way we know what we're planning and what kind of space we will be needing, and we'll also need some input from SCABIES members.

It would be good, though, to get estimates on prices at different venues in different locations which could end up being a deciding factor. Monterey would be much closer to SoCal than Stockton but probably pricey

well, salinas might be a better choice than monterey on a purely monetary standpoint but, what about king city or something along those lines?
stockton is good but, our socal brethren will be driving 300-450 miles depending on where they live.
i'll keep an eye out for a hall to rent around here though, just in case

Hello All,
I was acctually thinking about SCABIES going up there and then SFBATS coming down here.
We can join forces, money and talents to put something really nice together.
Several ideas come to mind. Here is just one.
For instance a nice big haunted house full of bugs, spiders and creepy crawlies where people could come and see the largest display of invertebrates in the history of our towns.
We can all be wearing custumes, have tables devoted to kids activities, others talking to people and showing bugs and many other things like games or raffles on which we can make some money for Charity (Animal sanctuaries or a new arthropod museum)
lots of ideas.

When I spoke to Robert on Sunday he told me that there is enough room. He owns the building and has plenty of room, but then again, I have never been there and I don't know if he has made any modifications.
We should make a trip out there soon. Maybe the Satuday after our meeting.

OK I'll start checking halls and what not I actually think that the civic center is pretty reasonable from what I've heard, Lony Rachel let me know when your heading out this way and I'll meet up with you!
