more confusing instructions... B. albopilosum

I have seen very contradictory instructions for the Honduran curly hair.  Some sources indicate moderate-to-high humidity, different from other Brachypelmas.  Other sources say to keep them dry.

What do folks here do?  I've given mine a fairly moist enclosure with a lot of damp sphagnum moss, and so far it tends to hug the moss and is very sluggish.  I have yet to see it use its hiding place, and it never moves except to eat... if this is a clue to anything.  I am concerned it is staying off the damp-ish dirt.

How big is yours?

Mine is about 5.25 inches and she has been keeped in a dry enclosure. I do mist it 1-2 times a week and it seems to be enough.
She recently molted and did just fine.

Most of the time she spends in her hide.

I think as long as it has access to a waterbowl then moisture is more up to your own preferences. However, I had a pair of B. albos for a while and I always kept them pretty moist. I believe where they are from in Honduras is moist and humid.

I would be a bit worried if you say yours is "sluggish". All of the ones I had would move very quickly when disturbed or fed. Could just be the specimens I've had though...

You may be keeping them warmer, too.  My room ranges between about 68 at night to 75 during the day, except during heat waves where it might climb another four or five degrees.  I have, however, had the edge of its enclosure on a heat pad and, so far, its behavior hasn't changed with the (presumed) metabolism speed-up of the heat.

Anyone else have comments about climate for this species?

Yeah at that time it was about 80 most of the day, sometimes dropping to 75 at night.

and as you can see it is better to ask about care than just searching, most care-sheets are merda pura. You are better off keeping any species relatively dry and adding humidity little by little until you find that sweet-spot ;).

then again, that may just be me :p

I totally agree with that statement.

I keep this species pretty dry, like other Brachys, and I keep them on coco fiber.

 What Edgar said.
