help! I hurt my friendI just did something really dumb. I was moving my B. vagans sling (about 1.75") to a different enclosure, and it was being very resistant and kicking hairs. And in trying to get it onto a large metal spoon to scoop it off the edge of the container I slightly mashed the tip of one of its legs - the leg to the right of the pedipalp. I think I slightly crushed it, because I saw the spider immediately put its leg in its mouth. When I got it into the new enclosure, it seemed to be holding that leg above the ground.
I am terrified. Is there anything I can do? How bad might this injury be? It just molted a few days ago so I assume it is still fairly soft. Help.

Any leg injuries will repair themselves in the next molt. It could be OK anyway since its so close to the last molt but either way eventually it will be ok. I know its hard when things like this happen but try not to worry too much

accident happen, spiders are incredibly good at repairing themselves during molts
i once accidentally cut off a small a.purpureas 2 front legs and both pedipalps in one go (lid caught all of them at once)
within one molt is grew them all back (although slightly smaller)
just give your spider some time to settle and it will be fine

That is a relief. It seems to be OK, spinning web in its new jar, etc. It was a pretty minor squash, but when it put it's foot in its mouth I was pretty devastated!

Make sure you don't see any leakage coming from that leg. All should be fine as mentioned above.

That's no need to worry, in another molt, they'll be back to full size. I've had an A. Avic that was missing a leg when I got her, and I had to amputate a leg from a rose hair due to a similar injury that the OP described. The avics leg grew back small after one molt, and was back to full size after another molt. The rosie's had one molt since then and has the half-size leg. She'll be fine after one more molt.
