Dysdera crocata aka "Sow-bug killer"I found a Dysdera crocata crawling on my shoulder this morning. I was camping in Half Moon Bay, and was just waking up. It helped me feel more alert, better than coffee. I think it liked me, so I decided to take it home!
I wonder if he will make a good pet.

LOL. I love these little spiders. During spring, sowbugs are a problem in our garden, so whenever I find one of these spiders, I carry it to the garden.

I had never seen one before, so I thought it was pretty cool.

So do we get photos or are we going to be kept in suspense here?

Good maybe for feeding things that eat them, or for use as a maid to clean up after your spider but they do eat seedlings of plants and low ground fruits and veggies. Personally, though I think slugs and snails are more of a problem than sowbugs. You need a lot of sowbugs before it becomes bothersome.

I didn't get any pics, unfortunately. I'll be sure to have my camera next time I go camping for any potential bug encounters.
