Blacklighting NightHey, everyone. As things get warmer, we should get together one of these warm nights to set up a sheet and do some black lighting.I noticed today, the cicadas are out too. I like finding beetles and big moths this way too. This would be fun just to hang out and see what cool stuff we attract. Its way cool, if you've never done it. You get to see thousands of bugs all at once. heheh I do it on warm nights in the spring and summer in my backyard or when out camping. We should plan a few nights on the weekends, sometime. Here's a video of some students blacklighting in Arizona, in case you've never done it, to give you an idea of how it works. Its FUN! Skip through the intro to 0:40sec if you want.  Some of those beetles and sphinx moths in the vid are awesome. :)

oh man thats a blast i only did it once in Edgars back yard and we saw all kinds of cool things Edgar I'm down we'll have to set it up one weekend then we can go get intoxicated on wine after but please keep your cloths on this time I mean come on it was one glass LOL

Hey Edgar, perhaps what we need to do is set up a collecting trip to Arizona, we could go and get D granti, P gloriosa,Strategus sp and Xylorictes sp in addition to moths and others cool bugs. francisco |

Hello All,
Warren, PErhaps Arizona in late May early June is not too good for cetain bugs, too early perhaps for reptiles is good. I think a good time will be late June early July. I am still trying to make plans to attend the ATS and also hit D granti country. regards francisco |

I work till 330 that day so I wouldnt be there till about 6 and it hasnt been getting dark here in stockton till bout 8 so I figure that should be more than enough time to get out there set up and possible drink a few beers and let the bug fun begin!! | ||

if you do it on a sunday i can make it on a saturday i would have to be back in monterey by 5 am the next day for work
