arboreal enclosure suggestion?

I'm getting a juvenile P. irminia tomorrow, and have never had an arboreal before.  As this will be a 2"-ish spider, I am trying to decide what to put it in which would give it some height but would somehow open conveniently.  Has anyone experimented with putting Kritter Keepers on their sides, or anything like that?  I would like some suggestions on the budget-conscious tip...

They do make KKs that are sort of cylindrical in shape that are only about 4 or 5" tall and about 3-4" wide give or take an inch. I think I have a few if you wanted one, otherwise a pet shop should have one for about 4 bucks.

I also have lots of these if you wanted one...

I use clear, acrylic boxes from Michael's, the art supply store.  Just drill holes in them, and there ya go.  They come in different sizes, so you can pick the size that's appropriate.

Tap plastics has a wide variety of containers that work very well.
I have been using them for as long as I have been keeping T's
You will have a heard time finding them at Michael’s because not all stores carry them. Nor do the employees know where they at

My only concern about using more plastic containers (I've got a TAP around the corner from me and use their stuff for slings) is that I want to be able to put them on heat pads in the winter.  Has anyone had any problems with them melting or otherwise becoming nasty when in contact with pads?

I use Exoterra-branded ones, underneath pieces of tile.  The enclosures sit atop the tile; this way, they can be moved on or off the heat pad as necessary, instead of sticking the adhesive pad to the enclosure(s) permanently...

I have been keeping T's since 2006 and I do not use any heat pads.
Temperature ranges from 65 - 80 sometimes.
My T's are doing just fine.

Acrylic is ok up to 100 F .. I dont use heat either...My T room is about 80 F...

If you start getting into the pokie's you need to watch the temperature, because they are not so tolerant of the heat.

My (extremely limited) experience so far seems to suggest most of my guys like it warm.  Night temps in my house this time of year seem to get not much lower than 65, but I had a 55 last week at one point.  Day temps hover around 75 right now, but with heat waves it increases to 80-ish.

So, those are just fine temps for all of my species, but the wintertime is when I get concerned as I don't blast my heater all the time, and furthermore, I lack central heating - just one hallway floor furnace - so there is no one room which can be kept warmer for the bugs in future.

Big shout out to Paul at petcenterusa.net for his great service and packaging... my four newest just arrived, and all are stunning.  Here's my Chaco.
