a skittish G. rosea?

So, I got an adult (unsexed) G. rosea from East Bay Vivarium recently because I wanted to have one large, handling-friendly spider.  And so far, this spider does not want to be picked up.  It is extremely jittery when I try to nudge it into my outstretched hand; it almost rears up a little and gets weird.  Jumpy.  I'm not sure how else to try to handle it, really.

Is this simply because it's only been in a new home for a week?  It seems otherwise perfectly comfortable, using the flower pot hiding place I gave it, wandering around the (12"x12") terrarium, standing on top of the flower pot, eating heartily, et al.

I'm tempted to take it back and see if they'll swap me for another one.  Thoughts?

G rosea's can be very moody. They have a split personality.
I have only had mine crawl on my hand but never really picked her up.
If you want a good T to handle go with a G. pulchra , G. aureostriata or B. smithi.
I have also found A. chalcodes to be very friendly.

Thanks, Lony.  I do have a B. smithi sling which I won at the meet (thumbnail size at best), so that one has a ways to go before it will be in my hand.

A Chaco Golden Stripe or Brazilian Black would be great - I'm trying to stick with low-humidity species, though, and doesn't the BB want it more humid.  Anyone here have either that they'd like to part with?

G. pulcher (slightly expensive) are just a different variety of rosea sort of as far as caging goes.  I HIGHLY recommend  G. aureostriata as I've never met a mean or skittish one.  I gave one as a gift to my friends 12 y.o. daughter when she wanted to get into the hobby and my sister who is not fond of my tarantula addiction refuses to give my  4" and growing aureostriata back :)  Not that I'm complaining, one more coming over to the dark side! LOL

And it's a super pretty spider.  Well, does anyone have any for sale?  Juveniles, or adults, or maybe even older slings?

Neither one of the species I named need any high humidity.
Misting one side of the enclosure once a week has been working fine for mine.
I don't even keep my Avicularia species that humid. It only invites problems.
As long as you mist once or twice a week if you should be fine.

I can vouch for that Charli....she is very cool with me changing her water one day, my hand is inches from her and she doent budge, the next day she will run from me LOL nature of the beast I guess. I have my sights on a golden knee next, they seem very friendly.

one day I will handle Charli, just have to watch some youtube video on how to actually handle a T LOL

Looking online, it doesn't appear that Ken the Bug Guy currently carries G. aureostriata.  Can anyone suggest an on-line resource for me to look for one?  I see many UK vendors, but it's hard to spot others.

I just saw James.  He will be at the San Jose show, if that helps any.
