2009 Officer Nominations and RESULTS

i've been speaking with some of you who have expressed an interest in getting a little more organized to see SFBATS work towards its full potential. Part of this involves electing  official officers for the group.

Below is a list and description of the officer positions suggested for 2009. Please, post your nominees in this section for each officer position. Officer positions may be shared, if deemed necessary.

Voting will take place in the near future after the nomination period.

2009 Officer Descriptions

President
Shall preside at all society officer meetings; shall arrange officer meetings and oversee arrangements for all SFBATS activities and programs; shall oversee all forum activity and memberships as moderator; shall, together with the other officers, approve all promotion and changes for the society and forum; shall create new officer positions, if deemed necessary, and shall delegate responsibilities accordingly; shall, together with the treasurer oversee all fundraising activities.

The President will offer ideas, programs, time and his/her effort for the betterment of the group and forum, making and maintaining SFBATS as a valuable resource to the hobby and provide education in the community, and he shall oversee each effort and delegate or offer suggestions for individuals to take on certain tasks to see each activity and program through.

-Annual and long range goal setting
-Responsible for the developement of those members with leadership skills and other talents that would benefit the group
-Works to create fundraisers to increase funds in the SFBATS treasury
-Organizes and encourages member participation at club meetings, events, and forum
-Responsible for membership growth and retention


Vice President
Shall perform the duties of the SFBATS President in the event of his/her absence; shall be responsible for making arrangements for all meetings including: securing place of meeting, contact officials, if necessary, gather information specifics and inform members of all information related to group outings; shall, together with the other officers, approve all promotion and changes for the society and forum.

The Vice President will together with the president offer ideas, programs, time and his/her effort for the betterment of the group and forum, making and maintaining SFBATS as a valuable resource to the hobby and provide education in the community.

Secretary/Archivist
Shall maintain all non-financial business records; shall maintain record of all meetings and document group events and activities; shall maintain record of all member information; shall preside at meetings in the absence of the president and vice president; shall answer all public correspondence or forward to appropriate individual(s); shall, together with the other officers, approve all promotion and changes for the society and forum; shall be responsible for photographic record of group events and activities maintaining an archive of all photographs for future SFBATS promotions and shall make archive accessible to all members.

Treasurer
Shall be responsible for maintaining all financial records relating to SFBATS and ensure all group related expenses are paid in full and in a timely manner; shall be responsible for securing and maintaining all group funds to be used for group activities and promotion. Shall provide the president with copies of all financial records. Shall, along with the President, oversee all fundraising activity; shall, together with the other officers, approve all promotion and changes for the society and forum

Education Specialists
Shall be responsible for public relations and education; shall work with public and other organizations to promote SFBATS though education and outreach programs in an effort to increase awareness and membership; shall remain in contact with local animal rescues and direct adoption, surrender, and re-homing inquiries accordingly; shall, together with the other officers, approve all promotion and changes for the society and forum.

Well...

I would be interested in knowing whether anyone (that would be you, Edgar) had bothered to ask the nominees if they are interested in being nominated for these positions.  I don't want to nominate someone for a position they aren't interested in doing.  Some people have busy lives already.  I note for the record that Ken has been nominated and hasn't chimed in yet.  Has anyone asked him if he's OK with this?  I'm OK with it, but it would have been nice to have been given a heads up first.

Nominations are just nominations. They may be declined at any time. Ken is a busy guy, which is why it was suggested that the VP slot be shared.

It's not like another part-time job, though. :D

As Fred pointed out, most of these positions are already being performed by nominated individuals. This just makes it a little more official and organized.


Keep those nominations coming! Let's keep the nomination period open until Christmas, and we'll take an official vote after then.

Once I have been voted to all the above offices, my first duty will be to take Edgars $200,000,000.00 and buy Kens business and Johns python  and donate them to SCABIES, then I'll rename sfbats to SCABIES Northern Chapter. then I will buy the rights to A/B and the ATS, and how can I forget TRANTULA.US and rename them SCABIES, and that will get us a couple steps closser to world domination

Sorry to burst your bubble there Warren, but even with all the world domination there is still one very powerful forum out there that the scabies won't get their hands on.

The nomination period is now over!

I spoke with John who humbly declined any VP nominations, leaving the nominations of Co-VPs Kenneth MacNeil and myself. I will be happy to accept the co-VP chair and work with Ken and and the other officers to make this group all that it can be. I know John would have done a great job, and I'll try to do as good a job as I know he would have.

At the same time, I decline all other nominations in my name. This means that all of our officer positions have been filled and decided on nominations, alone!

John Troupe "Uglykid2" and Laurie Osborne "llamamama" shall share the seat of Ambassador/Education Specialist, while Fred Macdonell "sntcruzan" will continue as our, now, official President.

Things worked worked out well, and your nominations, alone, decided our 2009 officers without needing a formal vote! Very cool.
