After visitilng the Spring Fling, Concord, my 11 year old son is set up for raising a tarantula. Do you recommend any docile kinds. We heard that Mexican Red Knees were pretty good. Can you tell me a fair price and where to look/obtain one?

I would recommend a chaco golden knee. I don't hold any of my T's that often, but I always bring her along when we do SFBATS meetings and stuff. She doesn't mind being held and I trust her enough to let other people hold her.
Another option is Chilean Copper. They're not big T's but very nice. Pinktoes are great too (a. avic) and not too expensive.
Mexican red knees are beautiful. I'm sure you can find someone here who help you purchase one. Large females can be around $200+ but you can often find smaller ones for $50 to $85. They're pretty slow growers, but well worth the wait.
