I swear this was meant to be...
I've been looking up breeders of garter snakes for a while because I'd like a new snake and I kid you not, in the middle of looking at pics of them my dad yells "hey madison get down here!" so I run down stairs into the garage and he points at the freaking cutest little snakey ever! I caught him no prob he just wiggled a bit and musked me but didnt even strike, and I set up a large critter keeper for him and he's already exploring it! Can you guys tell me what it is? I'm guessing a type of garter snake?
Secondly... What/how do I feed it! lol I'm guess he'll eat worms and maybe the small feeder guppies we sell where I work?
P.S. Don't be jealous of my awesome nail polish color! xD

Ringneck Snake!
Diadophis punctatus
Eats slugs, salamanders, and even other snakes. It may eat worms but it would make for poor nutrition if feed worms exclusively.
Not the best pet, unless you have a steady supply of slender salamanders and other odd feeders. _________________ Edgar Support the fight against "The Python Ban" www.Calris.org

Very cool, just worried about not being able to feed it correctly. I'm looking up info right now and apparently this little guy is already full grown, as it's about 10 inches long. I figured it'd eventually be able to eat pinky mice at least buuut.... I have plenty of red worms at the store I work at, though. Hmmm
Aww that's very sweet of you, but I need something smaller for now. Thanks for the offer though!
I've read a few different things online now about ringnecks being fine with earthworms but they sometimes don't take them in captivity. I'll see if my little guy takes them, and if he hasn't eaten in a week, I'll let him go!

Nice find, Madison. We'll bring some to the meeting for everyone to look at. We have a few from our last field trip. _________________ The future belongs to no one.
