I want to go looking this year for some of these species.

My plan is to hit up Henry Coe St park the weekend b4 the Tarantula Festival for the Ts.
I dont know where to start for the Calisogas, but I found one in Marine a long time ago, so thats a good place to start . . .

The only thing Im not sure of is the Time of Year, I assume late summer- ???
I want to hopefully get some female Ts as well as the more common males.

Who has the "secret tarantula hole"???
And where is it?

Oh yeah, whoever wants to can come . . .

calisoga are out and about right now until late october/november (atleast as far as ive seen, might be different depending on range!)

look for nickle sized holes in the ground, perfect circles, with a touch of silk along the edge. i found my first of the year (im in Napa) 2 weeks ago

not sure aboot the Ts though

No plans really, Im just gettin the ball rolling . . .

Mitch, you see the calisogas where your at???
Dude if you catch some, bring em to the meet and Ill buy em off you.
Still wanna catch my own tho . . .
Tell me where to go?

I have 2 of them that I ordered, but they are sooooo small . . . growing fast tho and eating like pigs.

Calisogas scare me . . .

Ive lived in Sac for goin on 4 years now, and tho the amount and variance of the wildlife(herpwise) is way better than the BayArea, I have yet to see any big spiders or such . . .

If you guys want to, lets get a plan, but its gonna have to be after mid-June for work reasons for me.

LOL  I have lived in both places, and the variance of wildlife is much better where I live in the Bay Area.  But it also depends on where you live...both in Sac or in the Bay Area.

ill see if i can make a trip to get a couple before the meet, i currently only have one mature female in my collection. ive seen them around town (Napa) a few times, including 2 mature males in the neighborhood near me (a friend brought me one and a friends roommate found one in his room). they are in the hills for the most part though, near skyline park. not too hard to find, you just have to keep an eye out for their burrow entrances

and if you're ever around Navarro, as you pass the wineries, along the roads shoulder there are literally hundreds in a small stretch of road (i worked around there last year and saw many burrows and hatched eggsacs, the ones up there are a more rusty color rather than the silver ones around here)

the road i found a lot of them near was in Navarro (near mendocino county), where the wineries are
